Ps 119
Topic:Dilemma
Text: I John 4:7-14
Text: I John 4:7-14
Today, the people of
the world are anchored to the horn of a dilemma. They live in fear because they
dwell in darkness and lack the knowledge of the truth that sets free. According
to our text, we are different from the people of the world. Greater is He that
is in us than he that is in the world. The love of God has been shed abroad in
our hearts therefore fear has vanished. Love overcomes fear. Fear simply means
the dread of the kingdom or darkness. Since the light of the gospel has made a
great difference in us, fear has lost its grip over our lives. If you are a
true child of God, you will be a stranger to fear. If you and I are as pure as
light, not only shall we overcome the forces of darkness, we will actually
become a threat to them.
Today, the entire
world, with the exception of a few Christian, is living in terror. People all
over the globe are afraid of Satan and his host of followers: witches, wizards
and demons. People also fear because of the threat of economic disaster,
terrorist attacks, nuclear war, global warning etc, because they are uncertain
of what tomorrow may bring. They have no assurance of security and stability.
If you are a true child of God this must not be your lot. Do not entertain
fear.
To the Christian,
fear should be a strange phenomenon indeed. When we hear of people being
afraid, we should be so much at ease in our Lord that we should wonder why
anyone should fear anything. After all, the cause of all threats to peace and
order is the devil. The devil is under our feet. If Satan is already a defeated
foe, and if we have total victory and dominion over him through Jesus Christ
our Lord, then why should we fear? Satan is no menace to those who are in
Christ Jesus. We are not his slaves; he is ours. We have received power and
authority from the Lord to deal with the devil as we wish.

perfect love casteth out fear; because fear hath torment. He that feareth is
not made perfect in love.”
